NKMS Instrumental Music Concert Dates

• November 6, 2024 - Bandemonium; Keating Center at 6:30pm
• November 13, 2024 - NKMS Band Concert; Keating Center at 6:30pm
• December 11, 2024 -  NKMS Orchestra Concert; Keating Center at 6:30pm
• February 19, 2025 - Festival of Bands; Keating Center at 7:30pm
• March 2,  2025 - Festival of Strings -  Holley Gymnasium at 3:00pm
• March 3, 2025 - NKMS Band Concert; Keating Center at 6:30pm
• March 5, 2025 - Night of Percussion; Keating Center at 6:30pm
• April 30, 2025 -  NKMS Orchestra Concert Keating Center @ 6:30pm
• May 13, 2025 - NKMS Band Concert; Keating Center at 6:30pm

Q: Can a student begin Band/Orchestra in 6th grade?
A: Yes, but since the majority of students have elementary experience, your child will need to work hard in the summer and fall with our instructors to catch up to their peers.  Often we limit the instrument selections for students joining for the first time in 6th grade.

Q: How does Band/Orchestra in middle school differ from the elementary program?
A: Band and Orchestra are classes in each student's schedule.  They meet as often as every other class.

Q: Does the school provide instruments for families who cannot/choose not to provide them?
A: Yes.  Please do not allow financial insecurity to interfere with your child engaging in any activities provided by our school.  Reach out to your child's counselor or principal for support.

Q: If my child has an IEP, can they take part in the Band/Orchestra programs?
A: Yes.  All students are encouraged to pursue their interests at North Kirkwood Middle School, and we will work with them to achieve success.

Q: Can my child enroll in both Band and Orchestra?
A:  No.  Band and Orchestra are offered during the same class period, so students will need to choose one program or the other.
